Blue (450nm) offers the highest copper absorption (>65%), making it ideal for thin-section conduction welding where heat input must be minimized. Green (532nm) provides ~40% absorption and is better suited for deeper keyhole welds in hairpin applications. IR (1070nm) should be avoided for bare copper due to <5% absorption and severe spatter. The BL500 is the right choice when weld resistance, cosmetic appearance, and minimal HAZ are the primary requirements.
